Art + Design Miami

Every 2^nd Saturday of the Month, Miami’s renowned Design District hosts “Art + Design Night”, an event featuring new artists, restaurants, shopping and music.  Various sounds of talented musicians fills the air on many street corners and the bright lights of storefronts and open doors welcome patrons in.  On a nice night, you can roam 38^th and 39^th for an hour or two, taking in the art and complimentary beverages hosted by independent galleries.

While we don’t often venture down to the busy streets of Miami and its surrounds, I have to say that getting here wasn’t all that bad in terms of traffic, but the hunt for a parking spot wasn’t all that fun.  I suggest bringing along a few dollars (cash) and you should have no trouble getting a valet to help you out ($3 for valet parking at the event – unfortunately, we only had plastic on us).

There are lots of lounge-type restaurants in the area, so I suggest relaxing in a comfy chair street-side with a tasty beverage, people watching and chatting with friends.  You can also plan to get some shopping done, so long as you’ve got a hefty sum in tow… don’t expect to get good bargains.  Art can command a few hundred, to a few hundred thousand.  Either way, you can enjoy the sights and make an evening out of it.
